Selling
In preparation for an Inspection to be done on your home The following points should be considered:
- Where possible, unencumbered access should be provided to the foundation walls, attic, major systems (ie: furnace, electrical panel, ect…).
- Warranty documents (if existing) should be made available (ie: roofs, furnace, ect.).
- Renovation permits with municipal signoff should also be made available.
- Agressive dogs should be contained/restrained such that they will not inhibit the inspection.
- Items that are known to be problematic and may cause damage should be identified (ie: a leaky tub overflow).
- All door should be unlocked and accessible.
Buying
In preparation to attend an Inspection:
- Make a list – In the day or so preceeding the inspection write down questions that may concern you.
- Ask lots of questions – One of the purposes of the inspection is to provide peace of mind. Answering questions and educating is part of the service.
- Relax – It is a great time to take a detailed look without pressure.
